The country music star George Strait has recorded a price cut on his custom-built San Antonio, TX, estate. The King of Country’s residence is now available for the discounted sum of $7.5 million.
The musician’s estate first appeared on the market in 2019 for $8.9 million, so the price reduction is a hefty discount on the earlier asking price.
For a buyer, the offering hits all the right notes.
On 12.2 secluded acres in the exclusive community of The Dominion, the home, built in 1997, offers a Santa Fe-style design by Bill Tull of Arizona. The acclaimed designer moved to San Antonio, along with his crew, to build the estate for two years while the work was carried out.
Noted for its “endless attention to detail,” the home’s standout features include 14 hand-sculpted fireplaces, stained-glass windows, saguaro cactus rib shutters, and hand-painted murals. Tull, who has since died, leaves behind a one-of-a-kind residence that could never be recreated.
“Now’s a better opportunity than ever,” says the listing agent, Tamara Strait with Phyllis Browning Company.
“Inventory is at an all-time low, and this house is spectacular. To have the acreage. the privacy, and the views of downtown San Antonio, it’s really hard to come by,” she says.
She noted that last year, the home came off the market after a hailstorm forced the owners to redo the exterior completely. It now boasts a brand-new roof and windows.
The almost 8,000 square feet of living space include three bedrooms and six bathrooms. The master suite features dual bathrooms and closets. Two oversized guest suites come with custom bathrooms. A detached casita offers one more bedroom, a living room, full bathroom, and kitchenette.
In addition, the layout offers a large living area with two fireplaces, as well as a custom-designed copper bar top with seating. In addition, there’s a gourmet kitchen and a formal dining room.
The fireplaces and some areas around the home have handpainted designs done by local artists, Strait notes. Some of the photos show virtual staging to give a sense of the interior space.
Outside, the infinity-edge pool and spa feature a mosaic finish. The patio includes a built-in grill, and was recently updated. The property also has a sport court.
In 2019, Strait, the listing agent, who is a family member, noted that although the musician and his wife, Norma, loved the house, they decided to move farther out from the city.
“They really still do love the house,” she says of the owners.
Noting that she gets phone calls about the listing every day, the agent adds that the unique abode is “a very taste-specific home,” which will appeal to someone who appreciates the custom details overseen by the country music legend.
Strait has sold over 100 million records, which makes him one of the best-selling performers of all time.
Reality TV star Ty Pennington, known for changing people’s lives with his energetic personality on the original version of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, is now looking to cash in on his own home makeover. Pennington has just listed his house — a beautiful and bright 1927 Craftsman in Venice, Calif. — for $2,795,000.
Pennington put his home design expertise to good use and carefully restored the property earlier this year with the help of his trusted interior designer, Patrick Delanty. Delanty, also known to be Halle Berry’s designer, has long been working alongside Ty Pennington, serving as his design director for Extreme Makeover and running his on-air design segments, most notably his presence on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Rachel Ray Show, NBC’s Nightline and Good Morning America.
Just like its reality TV star owner, the home is bright, cheerful and quirky, with colorful interiors exuding creativity and style. The property is listed by Patrice Meepos of Compass.
Tucked away on a one-way street near the beach, Venice Boardwalk, canals and Abbot Kinney’s hot spots, the original 1927 dwelling has 3 beds, 3 baths, and a sizable living room with decorative fireplace, along with a sunken family room with large windows overlooking a newly landscaped, private back yard with koi pond.
The ground level hosts the kitchen, laundry room, and bedroom with direct backyard access, as well as a full bath. On the upper level, there’s a master retreat and a second bedroom.
Ty Pennington added quite a few special touches to the 2,102-square-foot home, including bamboo flooring, baths adorned in vintage-inspired ceramic tile, a master bath sporting a standalone shower and an antique cast-iron freestanding tub, kitchen with concrete countertops and a wraparound, porcelain-tiled porch. There’s also a beautiful backyard that looks like a great place to entertain guests.
While Ty Pennington did not return to host HGTV’s 2020 version of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (which is hosted by Modern Family‘s Jesse Tyler Ferguson), you can catch the two time Emmy award winner in his other home improvement series, Trading Spaces — which recently restarted airing after a 10-year hiatus.
You can also get more tips from the home design expert from his latest book, Good Design Can Change Your Life, which is an intimate look at Ty’s design inspirations and is full of décor advice and tips. While we haven’t yet had the chance to pick up the book ourselves, according to his website the book is part reference, and part behind-the-scenes from Ty’s own home remodeling, which means the Venice home is already a bookshelf hit.

Comedian and actress Kathy Griffin listed her Bel Air mansion for sale this week. The Los Angeles home with 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms is priced at nearly $16 million. According to Architectural Digest, Griffin purchased the home in 2016 for $10.5 million, making this a potential $5 million profit for the comedian.
Griffin is a two-time Emmy winner for her reality TV show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. She’s also been nominated for several Grammy awards for her comedy albums. In 2014, she snagged a win, and both sets of awards can be found on display in her home.
Griffin’s home is in the gated Bel Air Crest community, and once neighbored Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. She even recalled how “sweet” of a neighbor Kim was.
But now, Griffin is looking for a buyer interested in 13,377 square feet, complete with an in-home theater, bar, wine cellar, workout room and a 25,000 gallon infinity edge pool. Her light-filled, open-floor home feels incredibly inviting.
The kitchen has stunning stainless steel appliances, two islands (one for cooking and one for dining, of course) and white cabinetry. There’s even a luxurious glass dining table set!
The main bedroom contains a marble fireplace, black and white-themed bathroom, custom closets and glass doors leading to a private, 1,100-square-foot balcony that overlooks the perfect backyard fit for any post-COVID-19 entertainment.
As if the exterior couldn’t get any better, outside there’s a pavilion, plenty of outdoor seating, a fire pit and an infinity edge pool. Have we mentioned the insane view of the mountains this home gives?
And for wine fans — don’t fear! There’s a downstairs bar and wine cellar. The bar has a much cooler, darker feeling than the other rooms in this home, and connects directly to the cellar. We’re already dreaming of sipping a glass of wine, poolside! According to Griffin, the wine cellar can hold 1,000 bottles, but she never quite filled it. She even joked with PEOPLE, “If one more person is like, ‘When are you going to fill it…” I’m thinking, ‘I don’t know, when a thousand people come over?’”
Everything about this home is breathtaking. The amenities are a dream — which is exactly why Griffin called this her “dream home” back in 2016. If you’re looking to find a home just as beautiful, or simply browse Kathy Griffin’s home for yourself, you can take a virtual tour of her home on Homes.com, But for now, we’ll be dreaming of those beautiful backyard canyon views!

If you’re a die-hard Supernatural fan like us, you’re probably still reeling from the show’s finale and coping with the fact that there won’t be any new Winchester adventures for us to follow. But weâre not here to talk about that, but rather snoop into the private life of one of the series’ leading men. More specifically, Jensen Acklesâ house — which we actually think Dean Winchester would approve of.
The actor starring in CWâs longest running show and his wife Danneel opened up their 7,500-square-foot home in Austin, Texas to Architectural Digest, giving us a rare glimpse into the heartthrob’s home and personal life.
As the story goes, the couple was relocating from Los Angeles and initially considered buying a house down the road when they noticed this property (that wasnât even for sale). But since they fell in love with it, the couple went ahead and asked the previous owners if they’d be willing to sell. And since it’s not easy resisting Jensen Ackles’ charms, they managed to convince the owners so the Acklesâ moved on to the next step â- redecorating the house.
To help out, they hired architect Paul Lamb and interior designer Fern Santini and together they came up with some brilliant ideas on how to best revamp their already-stunning new house.
âIt was imperative that the house express the Ackleses — young, bold, and irreverent,â Lamb told AD.
Jensen Acklesâ house, which boasts five bedrooms, revolves around Danneelâs decorating outlook of âmore is more is more!â There is a lot of color, texture, a lot of wood work going on to make it look like a lake house and endless decorations with some of the coolest background stories.
Let there be music
In Supernatural, Jensen loves music. Remember his spontaneous Eye of a Tiger outtake? Still fun to watch! Thereâs definitely more of where that came from in real life, since Jensen did his best to create an amazing acoustic sound in his house.
The living room is scattered with guitars and all across the shag rug lie comfy and colored floor pillows. All this because the couple loves having friends over, sitting on the floor, singing and playing the guitar.
Jensen was excited to talk about one of his favorite features of the house: âThe hand-scraped wood floors undulate quite heavily, and weâve got these giant beams and wood all around that feel like youâre in the hull of a giant ship.â âWhat that does is it creates an amazing acoustic sound,â he continues. âWeâve always had music in our lives, and we wanted to pass on that tradition.â
Jensen’s kick-ass bar
Theyâve taken care of the music, and to complete the ambiance they got rid of the formal dining room (that nobody used anyway) and replaced it with a kick-ass bar.
Placed on one end of the large living room, the bar is made out of black walnut with black and white veined marble. The cabinets were specially made to light the expensive bourbons it holds inside.
The master suite
Thereâs a master bedroom swaddled in Trove wallpaper bearing vintage photography of 1920s opera boxes. The wallpaper is covered in sections by Japanese-inspired barn door panels âbecause sometimes you need an audience and sometimes you donâtâ.
The master bathroom has a beautiful
bathtub sitting in front of a large window that provides a stunning view to the
The Mr. and Mrs. own two separate counters, because, you know, it just makes things easier in the mornings; and the inspiration for their master bathroom shower came from an Architectural Digest story featuring a steel and glass shower in the home of Neil Patrick Harris.
Jensen Ackles’ bright, wood-framed home
Thanks to exposed beams, larger expanses of windows, and rich wooden ceilings, the architect managed to simplify and open the spaces. They simply tore down walls to let more natural light into the home.
Jensenâs favorite space is the breezy two-story screened porch that transformed the entire profile of the house; and his favorite piece â a custom long table made using a 2,000-year-old cypress log.
Parents of three
Jensen and Danneel have three beautiful children, so they had to choose the decor and furniture according to their needs as well. It appears that the coupleâs eldest daughter would make a great interior designer once she grows up. The six-year-old girl, JJ, helped pick out all her own bedroom decor.
Unsurprisingly, the kidsâ favorite toy is a rolling acrylic table from the â50s, placed in the kitchen. Everybody loves a happy kitchen!
Jensen Ackles’ home is full of hidden gems
The actorâs house is a personalized, eccentric, yet highly livable place. It was designed to resemble the Laurel Canyon bungalow the couple had once lived in and itâs a testament to the old school, Austin-style lake house.
The space is filled with all kinds of eccentric and eclectic objectsâsome useful, some decorative, some both. The decorations could be found in abundance in Austin during its bohemian period (the Acklesâ are active supporters of local art), as well as in late-60s California.

Malibu residents will be seeing a little less of the hunky Hemsworth brothers in the future. Chris, Liam, and Luke Hemsworth have just let their California family retreat go, for $4.25 million. It initially landed on the market in September for $4.9 million.
The sale price may sound disappointing, until you consider the fact that the A-list Aussies bought the architectural modern overlooking the Pacific Ocean in March 2016 for $3,450,000.
Shed no tears for the bros, who are among Hollywood’s hottest commodities. It may be they’re just too busy with their careers, and don’t have the time to relax together as they used to.
It’s reported that the brothers were fond of gathering in the four-bedroom, four-bathroom, 4,612-square-foot home with views of both mountains and coastline.
Tall ceilings accommodated their height, and a chef’s kitchen with restaurant-grade Viking, Wolfe, and Sub-Zero appliances, as well as a 750-bottle refrigerated wine cellar, accommodated their appetites.
When it was time for a little rest and relaxation, they could chill in the chic yet comfortable home theater.
The grown-ups will enjoy the luxurious master suite, with its views, dual walk-in closets, and spa bathroom with a steam shower and Calacatta gold marble. The dual walk-in closets are also an asset, as are the dual walk-in closets and the towering art walls, ideal for hanging artwork or movie posters.
It’s also a kids’ paradise, with extra bedrooms that feature built-ins like bunk beds, a sleeping loft with a slide, and their own en suite bathrooms.
The grounds also accommodate a getaway lifestyle. The property is gated and secured, and the house is accessed by a long driveway.
There’s plenty of privacy, but also plenty of open space outdoors. Families could enjoy a spacious dining deck, an outdoor fireplace, gardens, mature landscaping, as well as rolling lawns and natural gardens.
The great outdoors is easily accessible through the floor-to-ceiling sliders. They complement the home’s wide-open floor plan and its low-maintenance but sophisticated concrete flooring.
Even during the pandemic, the Hemsworth brothers have remained in the limelight in Hollywood, with Chris, the middle brother, a staple in the Marvel Universe, as Thor.
The youngest brother, Liam, is perhaps best known for franchises like “The Hunger Games” and the “The Expendables,” but he also has other big- and small-screen projects under his belt.
Luke, the eldest brother, has been nominated for an award for his ongoing role in the HBO hit “Westworld.”
Eric Haskell of The Agency represented the Hemsworths, while Chris Cortazzo and Susan Saul represented the buyer.

As part of his plan of leaving Los Angeles and moving his family to the Big Apple, Matt Damon has now listed his Pacific Palisades home for sale. And he’s hoping to cash in big from the sale, asking $21 million for the Zen-inspired contemporary home set in one of LA’s most desirable neighborhoods.
Recently listed with Eric Haskell, an agent with celebrity real estate brokerage The Agency, Matt Damon’s house is an architectural masterpiece with 7 bedrooms, 10 baths, tons of distinct design features and some pretty extraordinary amenities. The Academy Award-winning actor will be trading all this for a 6,000-square-foot penthouse in Brooklyn, New York, having broken records last year by paying $16.745 million for the top floor unit of a famous former hotel, The Standish.
An architectural gem with striking features & Instagram-worthy interiors
Designed by award-winning architect Grant Kirkpatrick, founding partner of leading-edge design studio KAA Design Group, Matt Damon’s house is an extraordinary contemporary home that showcases masterful craftmanship throughout its 13,508-square-foot interiors.
With a modern-yet-timeless design, the house is anchored by a breathtaking atrium with 35-foot mahogany vaulted ceilings. The interiors are bathed in natural light and mix warm wood elements with natural stone, giving the whole space an inviting, relaxing vibe. Other striking features that deserve a shout-out: clerestory windows and glass walls that fuse the indoors with the outdoor areas.
The family room opens to the magnificent chefâs kitchen with custom mahogany cabinetry, Bluestone countertops and stainless steel Viking, Wolf and Miele appliances. The kitchen then opens to the expansive backyard retreat (but more on that in a minute).
All in all, Matt Damon’s soon-to-be former Los Angeles abode packs 7 bedrooms and 10 baths across 13,508 square feet of space. The primary suite comes with its own private terrace, dual dressing rooms, massage room and a spa-style bath with soaking tub and expansive shower. Pretty much every room offers leafy property and treetop views, adding an extra note of serenity to this wonderfully Zen-inspired home.
Amenities galore and a wonderful backyard retreat
Most celebrity homes tend to outdo themselves when it comes to amenities and bonus rooms and Matt Damon’s house is no exception. Interior amenities include a game room, bar, office, gym, plush media room, staff quarters and wine storage and tasting room. And that’s just what you’ll find inside the house.
Outside, the modern home has quite a few amenities that invite calm and relaxation (perfectly in tune with the rest of the house), including an expansive pool, spa, a cascading waterfall, koi pond and Hawaiian-inspired Lanai with a covered lounge and alfresco dining terrace. To appeal to the little ones — Damon is a father of four — there’s also a nice childrenâs play area.
Matt Damon’s next home is vastly different from his Los Angeles digs
The Academy Award-winning actor, who is starring in the highly anticipated Ridley Scott-directed The Last Duel (to be released this year), will soon be leaving Los Angeles behind. The move has long been planned, with Damon and wife Luciana Bozán Barroso having purchased a Brooklyn Heights penthouse two years ago for a record-breaking price.
The couple paid $16.745 million for a 6-bedroom, 6,201-square-foot penthouse at The Standish — a historically significant converted building that was originally built in 1903 as a Beaux Arts hotel. At the time, Damon’s purchase set a new record for the borough, making him the owner of the most expensive property ever sold in Brooklyn.
Despite the fact that the penthouse consists of several units merged for extra space, the actor will be downsizing considerably. And the loss in square footage is matched by a significant downgrade in outdoor space — though it’s worth noting that Matt Damon’s new home does have an expansive terrace, a rarity for New York City. There’s no Zen backyard pool though, so we’re pretty sure the Good Will Hunting actor will, at times, miss his Pacific Palisades retreat.

The NBA All-Star Blake Griffin has scored a mansion in L.A.‘s Brentwood neighborhood for $5,876,000. Ron Smith and David Berg of Smith & Berg Partners at Compass represented Griffin in the transaction. Jordana Leigh with Rodeo Realty represented the seller.
Despite a move from the L.A. Clippers to the Detroit Pistons, the big man is still going hard in the paint when it comes to L.A. real estate.
The remodeled residence Griffin scored initially landed on the market in May for $6.7 million. Three months later, the price dropped to $6 million, before Griffin closed on the deal earlier this month.
Built in 1936, the updated estate in the exclusive enclave features five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms on 5,893 square feet. The layout includes formal living and dining rooms that border the foyer.

An upscale kitchen boasts Brazilian granite, custom cabinets, a Viking range, and a Sub-Zero fridge. The kitchen leads into the family room, with a fireplace and tall windows.
Off the living room, you’ll find a media room and a billiard-room. For entertaining with a seamless indoor-outdoor flow, the home wraps itself around a private terrace for dining outside, with covered seating and a fireplace. French doors from multiple living spaces give access to the outdoor space.
Interior details include hardwood floors and travertine and limestone finishes.
Upstairs, the massive master suite has a fireplace, three walk-in closets, and a bank of windows that offers extensive views. Other perks include a gym, wine cellar, and a guest suite with its own patio.
Set behind tall hedges, the gated grounds include over a half-acre of land, with waterfalls, pool, and spa.
Griffin apparently has plans to spend the off-season here in style. He apparently bought an adjoining, brand-new property earlier in the year for $19.1 million, in an off-market deal, Variety reported, suggesting that the player may be inclined to combine the two parcels to put together a compound on more than 1 acre.
In 2019, Griffin placed his previous property in the Pacific Palisades on the market for $11 million. He bought the 9,600-square-foot Cape Cod-style pad in 2014 for $9 million.
Now 31, the Oklahoma native starred for most of his career with the Clippers, from 2009 to 2018, when he was traded to the Detroit Pistons.
In 2019, he made his sixth All-Star team. He’s headed into what could be his last season in the Motor City. Griffin has the option to extend his contract by a single season at the conclusion of the 2020â21 season or to become a free agent.
